Movie Night

We all know how expensive going to the movies are, yet we have engrained in our memory that going to the movies is an excellent date. What do you do when you don't have thirty or forty buck to plop down for two tickets and popcorn and drinks? Well you turn you living room into a movie theater. Go out and rent a movie for about five bucks and then turn the seats in your living room towards the television. Purchase some snacks and drinks at your local discount store and then invite you date to an evening at the movies. You can make a ticket to give them if you really want the great effect. Not only can you do this for less than half the cost but you can also get a little privacy. This way if you want to make out during the movie you don't have to worry about people watching the two of you make out. By turning out the lights and facing the television you will have the exact feel you do in the movies and if you have surround sound well then it might even be a little better. You can also pause the movie for when you have to go to the bathroom or get some more snacks. So make tonight a night of going in to the movies.

Keep the Peace!

I understand some of you are in a new relationship and that maybe you haven't had any disagreements, yet! Well they are coming let me tell you. If you think that you will not have an argument at any time then you live in la la land and need to get help. Actually disagreements or fights are good for a relationship, after they are over you realize that you can disagree and still love each other. This is where a lot of people get confused. They think that because their partner doesn't agree with them they are doomed. Think about it this way do you stop being friends with your best friend because they like a different sports team then you? or they don't order the same meal as you? Differences are great in a relationship so embrace them and know that is what helps you keep your identity in the relationship.

When you do have that big blow up you need to know when it is time to let it go. Things can get heavy and I have seen couples not speak to each other for days. This is the silliest thing I have ever seen. A relationship can overcome a lot but you have to know when it is time to give up on standing your ground. Think about is your view more important then your relationship. Realize it is okay to have different opinions. Compromise if neither one of you can be swayed, it's not hard people, you just have to give a little. If you partner is important to you that shouldn't be that hard to do.

Keeping the Peace is a challenge sometimes, I will not kid you. It is however worth the struggles and effort to not let little differences keep your relationship from being it's best. Know that it is okay to fight all couples do it from time to time but just know when it is time to lay down the guns and hug each other.

Love me two times baby.

For those of you lucky enought to remember The Doors classic song "Love me two times" we would like to encourage you and those that haven't heard this classic song to take a listen to it. Love can be shown in many different ways much like the song suggests. To make a great relationship you have to encompass many different forms of love. You have to be a friend, lover, partner, gardian angel, entertainer, shoulder to cry on, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on forever and if you want the best relationship you must be all these things for your partner. So don't think if you are getting into a relationship that you just need to be present to make everything great. You really have to put the effort into this life. So go listen to the song mentioned above and then thing about how important your relationship is to you.

Change the words

Have you ever been caught sitting watching television together when there is nothing really on you want to watch? If you end up in this situation here is what you can do. Turn the volume down on the show and make up your own words. Make up the most absurd things you can think of and challenge you partner to answer your remarks. This can be a real test to your wit. It also helps you become quick on your feet at answering questions. It can also help stimulate your brain power and get you thinking, instead of just sitting absorbing useless junk. Do it during the commercials also they can end up being really funny.

The best part about this is that it will get you laughing together. As I have said many times laughter is great medicine and it actually helps you live longer. So find a show that looks serious and ad lib so silliness into it tonight.

A great romantic movie neither of you will mind watching.

Anyone that knows me personaly knows I am a huge Adam Sandler fan. So this post was a pure joy for me to put together.

If you want to find a romantic movie that both of you will find entertaining. You need to go no further then Adam Sandler to achieve this goal. I must say that in my opinion the best of the best romanctic comedys is The Wedding Singer. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are star crossed lovers who are bound to end up together. This takes them almost the whole movie the the comedy helps keep everyone interested, until they finally figure out they are ment to be together, with the help of another of my favorites, Mr. Billy Idol. If you love 80's music this is a great soundtrack for you to have also, and the movie will bring back all the fashions that we want to forget from that time period. The point is the movie will make you glad your in love and watching it with your special someone.

Listed below are a few other of Adam Sandler movies that I think are great romantic comedy's also. Adam plays the loveable loser so well in these films you have to hope he gets the girl. So get some popcorn and cozy place to snuggle and enjoy the master at work.

Great Romantic Comedy's featuring Adam Sandler.

1. The Wedding Singer

2. 50 First Dates

3. Spanglish

4. Billy Madison

5. Click

6. Mr. Deeds

7. Anger Management

8. Little Nikki

9. Waterboy

10. Happy Gilmore (Only Adam can put the song Endless Love in a movie)

You can purchase any of this films using the Amazon Bar on the right.

Make a Movie Theater at Home!

Today life is so fast-paced that we seldom have time to take our sweetie to the movies. Either the times don't work out right or we don't have the hundreds of dollars it will take to purchase a ticket and snacks - Last time I went it was under a hundred, but let’s just use that as a general feeling. Nowadays, you can rent a movie not long after it has been in the theaters, and we have recently been downloading them from iTunes. I believe Netflicks has the downloading available also. It doesn't take much for us to get a movie and watch it on our time. We can pause it or stop it when we have things that arise like bathroom breaks or putting kids to sleep. But, just because we can’t find the time to attend the show at the theater doesn't mean we have to lose the ambiance.

Next time you get a movie to watch at home take some time and set up your own little theater in the family room. Move the couch around to sit right in front of the television. Make a trip to the local discount store and pick up all the snacks you would get at your local movie theater. They are much cheaper this way, and you usually get more for your money. Microwave some popcorn. You can even get some of those super humongous cups to get the real movie theater feel. Turn off all the lights in the house, and presto you have your own movie theater. You can even watch the previews at the start of the disc if you want to get a more authentic feeling. iTunes even carries trailers of movies that are not out in theaters yet.

Most movies have ratings like PG-13 or R. You need to decide what your theater rating will be! If you’re doing this with your children, you can use a G rating. Use pretend money and make tickets. The kids can use it to “purchase” their snacks and tickets. This is a good way to make sure they don't over do it on the snacks. Only give them enough play money to purchase a set amount of candy. If you want your theater to have a PG-13 rating you could invite all your teenage children’s friends over for a showing. Just get some extra folding chairs and presto you can create a teenager’s dream - all of their friends at the movies together. The R rated theater is probably just for the two of you (just depends on what you allow you kids to watch). Since the kids are probably in bed and no one else is in the theater let the make out session begin. Heck, if you know you won't have any interruptions, you can even slip into the X rating.

Get choosy over Movies

Okay, so it's your turn to choose the movie for your date! So what it gonna be - the shoot ‘em up movie or the slap stick comedy? Before your Neanderthal mentality kicks in, and you pick the most macho movie you can find, think of where this can lead. Look at your relationship. Are you at the beginning of it or have you been married for 20 years? What are your plans after the movie? Are you going to dinner, out to a club, or are you hoping to venture back to your place for a more intimate setting? Take all of that into consideration. Get a newspaper or get on your computer and find out which movies are playing near you. Scan over the times of each movie and eliminate all the ones where the time just doesn't work out for your date.

Now comes the pondering part of the movie selection process. How do you want this movie to affect your date? I can see you now with that glazed look in your eyes thinking, "I just want to see a movie.” Okay, I will make it a little simpler for you. Let’s say you are going to dinner after the movie; you don't want to see a gory movie as it might ruin your appetite. The stupidly funny movie might lead to way too much laughter during the main course. In my opinion, the best movie to see before going to dinner is one that will strike up great conversation - a thriller or a movie with twists and turns in the plot. Let’s say you are headed out to the club for dancing and drinks. My choice of movie would be a great comedy. You know - the ones with stupid lines and the comedy is right in your face. This has double the impact as one it gets you ready for fun while dancing at the club. And a bonus is if you’re not a good dancer, you might be able to imitate the movie on the dance floor and get some chuckles from your date. You can also quote silly lines form the movies to each other. If you are drinking alcohol they get funnier and funnier. Now let’s say you want to head back home for some alone time after the movie. You have several choices - the first being the horror film. Your partner might jump into your arms and want to be held. However if you’re a little jumpy this might back fire on you. A romantic comedy might do you well as it will take the edge off the date and still promote kissing and other stuff. An adventure movie might do you well as it gets your blood pumping, and might lead to some role playing at the homestead.

So don't just choose the movie you want to see the most when going on a movie date. Take some time and think about the outcome - no not of the movie but, of the later activities. One more thing before I leave you, sometimes the best movie to see is one that no one else wants to see. “Why?” you might ask. Well, you just might have the whole theater to yourselves!!
