love yourself first!

An interesting concept that has taken me a while to understand is now an important fact in my life. To love you have to love yourself first. For years I have always thought that my love for my partner is the most important thing. However you cannot give your love away if it is not in you to begin with. I am not say that you need to do things differently in the way you treat your partner but you need to treat yourself differently. Make you that you are getting the things to make your happy and then your happiness will spread to your partner. They will start picking up on your happiness and if they truly love you then, they will feel more love towards you and you can share you love easily with them. It is a circle and once you understand it your love will really start to pick up speed.

Give and Take!

Everyone knows that romance is a give and take situation. The problems come in when the balance begins to get lopsided. One partner is doing more giving and the other is doing more taking. We all want to enjoy the romantic efforts of our partner it feels great. However, there are wonderful feelings in doing things for them as well. Think about how you feel when your partner does something romantic for you? Shouldn't they get the same feeling returned to them? If this is not your train of thought then you need to start retraining yourself. Unmatched romance soon becomes a chore to the person being romantic. They will start to loose interest and start thinking things like "Why, should I do this it won't be appreciated?" Think about how your react to your partner do you expect them to be the one that buys flowers all the time, or sets up wonderful evenings for the two of you. If your not pulling your weight in your relationship then it is your partner that is suffering not you. Now if you love your partner and want them to be happy there is no time like the present to take action. Return all their romantic notions with ones of your own. Make it a challenge to yourself to return every serve they make and soon you might just find the wonderful joy you will have in yourself and how thankful you are that your partner loves you.

Be Yourself

So many times in the beginning of a relationship we try to be someone we are not. Maybe you try to act like your favorite actor or actress, which doesn't work in my case because Adam Sandler is not high on many women's list. Our you try to act like other people that you think have it down. However as much as it seem silly the best person to be is yourself. Lay all your little quirks out on the table from the beginning. If you like Star Wars let them know during your conversation. If your person you are with sees the real you from the beginning you will have a lot better chance of the relationship working for the long haul. Plus you will know that the person is about you and not about the person your acting like. You don't want to be six months into a relationship and find out your partner thinks your Star Wars fixation is childish and you should abandon it at once. Things like that are better known from the start. As you begin a new relationship take heart and be yourself, you might just thank yourself later for doing it. Plus you will find someone that likes you for you, and that is worth all the lightsabers in the world.
