Sometimes you just need to listen, and not speak

Have you ever had a really bad day and just needed to vent. You don't want to be consoled or babied and the last thing you want is to be cuddled. You just want to scream and let it all out. When you partner feels this way you need to pick up on it as soon as you can and then become what I consider the tackling dummy. Let them let it all out, don't judge, don't offer opinions just stand or sit there and listen. Listen with your heart and pay attention, only offer any words if they ask you for them. Nod your head, reach out and touch them but don't tell them they are wrong or that you would have handled it differently because that is not what they need right now. They need to get that negative energy out of their body and venting is the way to do that. It might take all night to get it out but when it is your turn they will be there for you.

Compliments.

If you don't already you need to make it a point to complement your partner on a daily basis. You don't have to go overboard because that will just be overkill. However a simple, "You look nice" or "Your so Handsome" is a great way to start your partners morning. This simple little compliment could possibly change they way their day goes. Boosting your partners confidence is a great way to make your relationship better, plus it shows them you really care. Mix it up a little and spread you compliments out during the day. When ever you have something negative to say make sure you always follow it with a compliment. For instance, if you partner makes the worst dinner ever, simple say "This meal is not nearly as tasty as the one you make last week, now that was delicious" or "That really didn't feel very good for me, but I loved it last time when you did this" Not only do you express your true feelings but you also let them know what your really enjoyed or liked. Now listen up this is an important part of this post on compliments. When ever you partner goes out of their way to do something like dressing up or doing extra housework you need to make it a point to let them know how great they look or did. Go overboard at this point "WOW, you look so wonderful, everyone is going to have their eyes on you" or "Oh my god, the house looks wonderful" followed by a long kiss. This is how we are suppose to be addressed when you go out of our way to accomplish something. Now you have the tools to make your partner feel like a million buck with only the use of words and actions.

Negative People

You know that person that is always a bummer. They never have anything good to say. They are always in a bad mood. Well you need to distance yourself from that person. Being around such negativity only make you feel bad. Emotions are contagious, think about it if your around someone that is bubbly you can't help but smiling and feeling good. The same works for those grumpy people. They will bring you down even if you are in a good mood. I have learned to turn off listening to these people that make you feel bad. When they spit out grumpy things from their mouths, I just say "I am so sorry you feel that way" I do not let it effect my mood because life is way to short to be grumpy. So how does this relate to romance? Be in a good mood when around your partner, remember it is contagious. Make it your mission to effect them with your happiness.
