Are You Prepared For Your Honeymoon?

Preparing for the Honeymoon: Honeymoon Fashion Tips

Expert Author Sherly A. Mendoza
Aside from the wedding ceremony itself, the honeymoon is one of the most awaited parts of a couple's new journey in life. Couples spend a lot of time and money just to make sure that they choose the perfect honeymoon location. For some, spending their first days together as husband and wife means honeymooning in their favorite island. For others, spending some nights in a posh hotel is enough. No matter where one chooses to honeymoon, though, one thing is almost always taken for granted: the wardrobe.
Even if honeymooning couples normally spend most of their time by themselves, looking good is still important. This is tantamount to feeling good and confident about one's self. If you are getting married soon and are in the middle of finalizing honeymoon plans, it will do you a lot of good to check out the fashion tips that follow.
Summer Honeymoon
- If comfort is more important than fashion for you, your honeymoon wardrobe should consist mostly of cottony outfits. This is especially true if your honeymoon falls in the middle of the summer season. Cotton is a very breathable material, so it is the most comfortable. You'll find a lot of fashionable clothes made of cotton. There are sleeveless summer dresses for the young bride; and cotton shirts for men. Choosing the right color is essential; go for light shades as dark colors tend to attract heat.
- A summer honeymoon means plenty of time in the beach. This means that you should prepare as many swimwear as you can. Bright colors are perfect for beach wear of any type: bikinis, one-piece swimsuits, men's swimming outfits, board shorts and even maxi dresses, colorful sarongs and cover ups. Bring more than one swimwear so that you won't have to wear the same one everyday. Part of your summer honeymoon fashion are your sunscreen lotions and lip balm.
Sleepwear
- Whether your honeymoon is in the summer season or not, bringing the right kind of sleepwear is important. Brides should go for lacy lingerie or nighties. And yes, the groom should go for funky boxers even if sleepwear is only for the bedroom. This does a lot in creating the right honeymoon ambiance.
- Cover up a little more when honeymooning in the winter season. But choose styles that are still fashionable.
Cold Weather Fashion
- If your first romantic outing as husband and wife takes place in the colder parts of the year, it is best to prepare a sweater, jacket or sweatshirt. Winter honeymooners, especially those who plan to spend their time in a ski resort, should bundle up in the right outfit, from the head gear down to their footwear. Look for coordinated outfits like winter jackets (preferably hooded), ear muffs, winter pants and boots. Of course, it is important to go for clothes that you feel most comfortable in; otherwise, you won't be able to move around too much.
Footwear
- For the summer season, it is best to prepare two sets of footwear: a pair of beach slippers and elegant sandals that you can use for fancy dinner dates. Men should go for slipper-sandals that they can wear on the beach, as well as simple dress shoes for romantic dinners. Go for boots for colder weather. And just in case the hotel or resort you are going to stay in does not have one, bring a pair of bedroom slippers.
Extra Stuff
- Lastly, it is up to you if you want to bring hats as these can be especially useful in protecting yourself from the sun. There are hats and hoodies that are perfect for the windy and wintry season.
The best thing to remember when preparing your honeymoon wardrobe up is comfort. No matter how fashionable or expensive your outfits are, if you are not comfortable with what you are wearing, you won't look good in it. Confidence is a big factor in looking and feeling good - whether you're honeymooning or just hanging out with your spouse.
